I was lucky enough to visit the San Diego zoo this past weekend, arguably one of the best zoos in the world. My favorite animal is far and away the giraffe, but bears are number two. It was fortunate for me that a couple grizzlies and a sun bear were awake on this hot Southern California afternoon…made my day! It reminded me of a play fight I recorded years ago between two bears at the zoo in Vienna. I didn’t stick around to see who won, but they seemed pretty evenly matched so I’m sure it ended in a stalemate. This is one of the top zoos in Europe, and is set nearby the grounds of the amazing Schonbrunn Palace.
