Moving Pictures – Monterosso, Italy

Monterosso, Vernazza, destinations   Mar 22, 2016    By

I remember taking a break-dancing class as a kid in the early 80s…I was terrible at the backspin! Back in college I played bass guitar in a hip-hop band. We had the works – DJ, multiple MC’s, wildstyle graffiti artist…and break-dance specialists. Little did I know that my trip to Cinque Terre in Italy would […]

Shutter Love Sunday – Cascais, Portugal

Together with Sintra, Cascais is a must-do day trip when you’re in Lisbon. The attractive little building shown below is the Chapel of Saint Sebastian. Note the blue and white tiles on the facade…Portugal is known for these and you end up seeing ‘artsy tiles’ everywhere.

Travel Smart – What’s in my Backpack?

 packing list,travel advice   Mar 17, 2016    By

As I stuffed my backpack for a recent Spain trip I was reminded of how ritualistic travel became for me. So what makes a ‘hidden gem’? I figure it’s a location off the radar from people’s tourist lists, maybe a city in a country that already has multiple places of more popularized interest. Because of that I’ve also added in the best way to get to these gems…and in all cases there are direct routes […]

Shutter Love Sunday – Krakow, Poland

There’s a lot more to Krakow than the salt mine tour and a day trip to Auschwitz. I love this shot of a hot-air balloon floating adjacent to the Wawel Castle. Built in the 14th century, this castle previously housed royals and political leaders, and now serves as a national museum.

A Hybrid Emotion – To Travel is to Live

 destinations,eurotrip,wanderlust   Mar 1, 2016    By

Feel the nerves, feel the wonder, feel the excitement… That’s how I feel in a new city…as I emerge from the train station, or ride in the taxi through downtown…stepping out for the first time in a main square and just looking around and taking a deep breath. Seeing all the permanent residents whose city […]
