6 Can’t Miss Things in Sao Miguel, Azores

 Azores,Portugal   Jan 13, 2017    By

“And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels fought against the dragon…and the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world…” – Revelation 12 I couldn’t find anything on Sao Miguel that resembled that quote above. The island is named for Saint Michael […]

11 Things to Know When Visiting the Azores

 Azores,Portugal,Travel Advice,wanderlust   Nov 30, 2016    By

Before my trip, the Azores islands were a mystery to me. This collection of nine volcanic islands sits in the center of the Atlantic, allowing for convenient direct flights from Boston, not coincidentally the site of the largest Azorean population in the U.S. I’d do searches online and find nothing specific regarding proposed itineraries, or […]

Shutter Love Sunday – Terceira, Azores

 Azores,photography,Portugal   Sep 25, 2016    By

Another photo from Terceira, probably my favorite of the four islands we visited recently in the Azores. Shutter Love Tuesday – Sao Miguel, Azores

 Portugal   Aug 16, 2016    By

The Azores adventure has kicked off! My apologies for missing the Sunday posting, but WiFi connectivity issues prevented me from uploading the picture. We had a great first weekend with majestic views of this volcanic lake, hours spent bathing in hot springs, exploring some geothermic attractions, and strolling through beautiful gardens. The food here is […]

A Parade of Thoughts on Portugal

 photography,Portugal   Jun 9, 2016    By

I recently attended the annual Festa celebration in San Diego, run by the United Portuguese Sociedade do Espirito Santo. I don’t like parades, so I’m not sure why I had this on my list of European festivals. I lived in New Orleans, the parade capital of the world, and I left liking parades even less! I […]
